InkTyper ("we", "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.

Information We Collect

1. Local Data

• Audio Recording: Temporarily stored in memory only while you hold the hotkey, automatically deleted after transcription
• Transcription Text: History is saved locally on your Mac by default, with iCloud sync (optional)
• App Settings: Your preferences, hotkey configurations, templates are stored locally
• Usage Statistics: Daily usage (minutes, count) stored locally for free tier management

2. Optional: API Key

If you choose to use BYOK (Bring Your Own Key) mode:

• API Key is stored only on your Mac locally
• The app connects directly to your chosen service provider using your Key
• We do not proxy, intercept, or store your API requests

3. App Store Data

• Subscription status (managed via StoreKit 2, processed by Apple)
• Crash logs (only for bug fixes, no personal identity information)

Information We Don't Collect

• ❌ No account registration or login required
• ❌ No collection of your name, email, or any personal identity information
• ❌ No collection of audio recording content
• ❌ No collection of transcribed text content (except local history)
• ❌ No analytics or tracking tools
• ❌ No sale or sharing of your data with third parties

Data Storage Location

• Local Mode: All data processing happens on your Mac, audio never leaves your device
• BYOK Mode: Audio and text are sent to your chosen API provider (e.g., OpenAI), please refer to that provider's privacy policy
• iCloud Sync: If enabled, history and settings are encrypted and synced via iCloud

Data Retention

• Temporary audio files are deleted immediately after transcription
• History is saved locally by default, you can delete it at any time
• Uninstalling the app deletes all local data (except iCloud synced data)

Children's Privacy

This app is not directed at children under 13. Since we don't collect personal information, we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Third-Party Services

This app may use the following third-party services:

• Apple StoreKit: For in-app purchases (managed by Apple)
• iCloud: For optional data sync (managed by Apple, end-to-end encrypted)

Your Rights

• You can delete history at any time in app settings
• You can revoke API keys or change sync settings at any time
• You can manage app permissions (microphone, accessibility) in system settings

Permissions Explanation

• Microphone Permission: Used to record your voice, only when you hold the hotkey
• Accessibility Permission: Used to detect hotkeys and insert text into other apps, does not read or access other app content

If we update this privacy policy, we will post the new version on this page and notify you in the app of significant changes.
